Home sales (and values) have been on a strong uptick nationwide thanks to low interest rates, freer lending standards and a drop in the foreclosure rate. Sellers everywhere are breathing a giant, collective sigh of relief! But for all of the buyer activity, it seems like most houses sit on one end of two extremes: they either get snatched up the moment they hit the market (with multiple offers and an above-asking sale price) or seem to languish on the market without an offer in sight.

All sellers aspire to be on the multiple-offer end of the spectrum. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to make that happen. Here are three tips to move your listing in to the multiple offers zone.

1. Declutter, stage the home, and then sell it.

Self-storage is a 29 Billion dollar industry in the US.
There are 52,952 storage units in the U.S. which is considerably more than McDonalds & Starbucks locations combined.
80% of the clutter in homes is a result of disorganization, not lack of space

2. Make some simple cosmetic changes.

80% of homeowners went over their initial budget by at least $500-$1,000.

Home improvement sales are expected to reach over $620 billion in 2025. Older millennials make the most renovations to their homes.

3. Invest in some bigger home projects before listing.

a) Refinishing & replacing hardwood floors give you a higher return on your investment (ROI) 147% and 118% respectively.

b) Insulation is break-even at 100%

c) The rest have less return on your investment. Shocking! But the alternative is not selling your home because of the pink and maroon circa 1959 tile in the bath… it’s probably still worth the investment.
